Bertie, a seven year old JRT had ventured into the sea whilst on a beach walk with his owner. She watched as he swam around for a few moments but then realised that something was terribly wrong as the dog kept disappearing under the small waves . Not hesitating, his owner leapt into the water to reach Bertie, pulling him out and onto the shore where she realised that his heart had stopped beating. As a Care Assistant at an old peoples home , his owner had learned the technique of mouth to mouth resuscitation and so quickly employed this on Bertie who amazingly, began to breath. Bertie was rushed to the nearby Vet and treated for shock and pneumonia , the surprised Vet saying that this was the first case of mouth to mouth he had ever known to be performed on a dog! Bertie made a full recovery , thanks to the quick thinking and actions of his owner.
